My First Video Recipe and RWoP

While I was engaged, I cooked a meal for my friends and my fiancée. He had a small video recorder and randomly filmed me in the kitchen. My fiancée kept on telling me, "You ought to be cooking on TV!" But I didn't let him send in the video, and it became sort of a joke between us.

My TV chef loving fiancee and I later married, and after 18 years of marriage and four children, my husband gave me another push . Without me knowing, he approached a young, gifted videographer, Clay Gibson (remember this name because one day he's going to be big!) to film a few cooking videos for my blog. This time, I couldn't pass up this opportunity

I read that Ms. Paula Deen and the Real Women of Philadelphia were hosting a video recipe contest, so I decided to enter. If I was already making a few videos, why not enter a contest too? On top of that, I am finding that RWoP is a great community of food enthusiasts who are welcoming and caring!

(Susan Liana and Clay Gibson)

Cooking in front of a lens was much harder than I anticipated. I was so nervous and stiff! With experience, I'm hoping to become more at home in front of the camera.

Whether I make it to be one of the finalists for the contest or not, I am just excited that now, you all have access to video tutorials for some of my favorite recipes!

  5. Kay, it is so fun to see you in video! You have a wonderful presence and your kind spirit shines through. I really admire the courage you have to get in front of the camera! I've had a number of friends encouraging me to do something similar, but I still don't feel quite ready for that step myself. :) Wishing you all the best in this new endeavor!

  11. Great job on the video! Hope you win!

As a Canadian fan, I have a comment. It poses some difficulties when ingredients are presented as "4 ounces of feta cheese". It would be far more helpful to read "1/2 cup of feta cheese". Also, often American recipes read, "1 can of this", or "1 package of that". Outside of the US, the packaging sizes often differ, and so we are reduced to guessing.

I'm mentioning this since the internet brings you into homes around the world, where products are marketed differently. It might be something you may want to think about for when your videos hit the big-time! :)

Thanks for all the yumminess you share!

    Katie

@Katie, thank you so much for your advice! I did not consider my friends outside US. I will definitely take note of the measurement for my next video! :)
