Windy Hill at Flat Rock

This past Labor weekend, my family and I joined another family to spend some time together in North Carolina. We went to visit Biltmore Estate. We rented a beautiful, historic, farmhouse in Flat Rock, originally built in 1890's, called Windy Hill. The house was perched on the top of hill, nestled behind trees and an apple orchard.

The moment we drove up to the house, we fell in love with it.

It was beautiful inside and out.
The house was filled with family antique furnitures, pictures, and heirlooms throughout.

Sweet, rustic details...

A scale!

Beautiful family photos and paintings throughout the house.

We spent a lot of time sitting in the front porch, sipping steaming, hot coffee in cool, brisk mornings and evenings.

A few sets of wheels and a hill are all the boys needed to have fun

We did good bit of hiking and walking

At then end, I think we enjoyed our time in this farmhouse more than the grand tour of Biltmore Estate. That goes to tell you that even the great display of wealth and splendor are not what makes one happy in life, but it's your family and close friends who make life's journey a bit sweeter.
We were all bit sad to leave this wonderful place, but we all hope to visit soon.
